This group brings together all those who are interested in walking as a form of exercise (fitness or power walking), a competitive sport (racewalking), and a way to enjoy nature (social hiking). We are not professional athletes but we like to think we're talented amateurs; that may or may not be true).
The Walking Club of Georgia has existed as a dues-paying club for over 30 years years. We maintain a web site, produce a monthly newsletter for our members, organize monthly hikes and monthly racewalking clinics, facilitate group walking in diverse neighborshoods, and hold club-wide social events throughout the year.
In addition to all that, we have formed this group on Lens on Atlanta to encourage even more interactivity among members and with those who might or might not want to become members. Anyone is welcome to post a question, idea, thought, or suggestion. We think it will be especially useful in helping people organize group walks in their neighborhoods or near their workplaces.
If you're interested in becoming a formal member of the Walking Club of Georgia, see our web site at www.walkingclubofgeorgia.com.
